Okay, so an amazing hat won’t win the race, but we’re actually not terribly interested in that part anyway. We’re far more fascinated by the hats that the Derby brings out, and the Kentucky Derby Museum has chosen the hat with which it is most impressed this year — Gena Conti Millinery’s Orange Ade.

The hat is currently on a one-year loan to the Kentucky Derby Museum Hat Exhibit in Louisville, Kentucky, and is made of four layers of orange sinamay straw with a lime green sinamay crown. Green, gold, orange, fuchsia, lavender, and teal organza, as well as orange and green silk pansies adorn the hat, along with jack-o-lanterns, magnolias, leaves, and feathers.
